Kensington is a Spanish-styled San Diego County neighborhood just south of the 8 highway in San Diego County. There's a small business district along Adams Avenue, featuring the famous Ken Cinema, the Ken Club Bar, Kensington Video, Ponce's Mexican Restaurant, Kensington Cafe.

One of San Diego's oldest residential neighborhoods, Kensington is situated north of El Cajon Boulevard and east of Interstate 15 above the south rim of Mission Valley. Known for its beautiful Spanish style homes most built in the late 1920's.

Currently in August 2009, there is a higher volume of Kensington homes available which resulted in 50%+ reductions in price of currently home sellers. However it does not look like the panic which we have seen in other areas.

How is the Kensington Street Sign doing?
The neon "Kensington" sign used to hang over Adams Avenue, which acts as the neighborhood's cultural and business center.This sign, after almost a year of needing repair was taken down and sent to be fixed. While it was there, mechanics realized that the sign was so old and very hard to repair. They also found it to be an incredibly health hazard. After careful consideration the town council decided to have a new sign to be installed in place of the old one.

Kensington Terrace Kensington Terrace is a mixed use project that will replace the gas station on the corner of Adams Avenue and Marlborough Drive and the dilapidated apartments on the east half of the block at Edgeware Avenue. The City Council voted to deny our appeal. The Kensington Neighbours sued and won.  Because the developers chose to withdraw the project, give up their permits and agree to build a much better project if we would just stop suing them. On April 23, 2008 the residents of Kensington reached a settlement agreement with the developers of Kensington Terrace.
