Home prices in San Diego County, along with other metro areas around the country, improved for the third straight month in July, the latest sign that prices might be stabilizing, according to a widely watched price index released Tuesday. The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller Home Price Index reported San Diego prices up 2.5 percent from June to July. The continuing year-over-year decline slowed to a 12.3 percent level.

The median home price for 1999 was $225,000, the The median home price for 2005 was $575,000.
The median home price for August 2008 was $350,000.
